A remembrance about beloved Sheillah
We are a registered non-profit organization started in honor of a Cayman Nanny who sadly lost her life to drowning. Kristin Koopman, owner of Sky Blue Aquatics, and the Foley Family, have partnered to create a 6 week swimming and safety program to help ensure all nannies in Grand Cayman are water safe and have the opportunity to learn to swim.
How We’re Making a Difference
It is our mission to ensure every caregiver has access to our program so that both the Caregiver and the people around them are mindful of their swimming ability and knowledge of water safety. Swim For Sheillah also offers free Swim Assessments, by request.
We intend to raise awareness that swimming is a lifesaving skill to the individual and to those around them in their care. We are here to help the Caregivers of Cayman.
We are proud to say that 115 lessons have taken place since inception, and we are now in a position to add space for approximately an additional 40 nannies to our program. By the fall of 2023, we hope to open this program up to the greater Cayman Community so that any adult who requires financial support to access water and safety lessons will have the support of our organization.
We are accepting donations via Butterfield Bank to raise money so that we can offer FREE swimming assessments and subsidized swim lessons to all caregivers in Cayman. We aim to expand this program, in the Fall of 2023, to reach the greater Cayman Community, to any adult that might need the additional financial support to become water safe & efficient.
Any amount makes a huge difference to our program, and we sincerely thank you for any donation you are able to make. If you would like to sponsor a nanny, please find some guidance below:
A $100 donation will provide 1 Nanny access to a 6 week swim course.
A $300 donation will provide 1 Nanny with 3 sessions of the 6 week Course. We have found that most nannies need 3 sessions to pass a full assessment, become competent swimmers and receive their certificate.
A $1500 donation would provide 5 Nannies with 3 sessions of the 6 week Course.
A $5000 Corporate Sponsorship would be allocated to the ‘Tread for Sheillah’ Fundraiser, which would include corporate branding on any SFS items used at the event.

Donations will go strictly towards the cost of the instructor’s time as well as pool lane rentals.
We’d also like to thank the staff, web developers, and management team at Sky Blue Aquatics for donating their time and services to launch this initiative. Sky Blue Aquatics does not receive any profits from this program.

Free Caregiver Assessments
Swimming Lessons
Certificate of Achievement
Swim for Sheillah offers free assessments to help get an understanding of you/your caregiver’s water safety knowledge and ability.
The assessments are based on availability and will mostly be held midday on weekdays at a public pool. Alternatively you can schedule an assessment at your home pool if we have availability.
Swim for Sheillah has created lessons specifically for this program to help educate caregivers on swimming techniques, water safety, and rescue skills.
We have created lessons specifically for this program to help educate caregivers on swimming techniques as well as an involvement of water safety / rescue tips in all of our lessons.
Once completed the program, and passing your assessment, we will provide you with a certificate of proof that you have completed our Nanny / Caregiver Water Safety Program Assessment.
Please note - This is not an accredited award, nor does it hold as a qualification. It shows that you are able to confidently pass a series of skills that we have taught over the course of the 6 week program.

Cost of Swim Lessons
We will work with you and your employer to ensure swimming lessons are available. As part of this program we offer discounted swimming lessons to those who we deem in need of help.
